Job description

The Total Group of Companies is actively recruiting High-Angle Rescue Technicians to support our rapidly expanding operations across Canada, with most opportunities currently located in British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Ontario. Our work includes restoration projects, industrial sites, and live-plant turnarounds. Project locations, schedules, rotations, and durations will vary depending on client requirements.

We welcome qualified High-Angle Rescue Technicians, as well as individuals with Confined Space Rescue experience who are interested in expanding their technical rescue skill set.

The Rescue Team is primarily responsible for planning and providing industrial technical rescue standby, fire prevention, rescue support, and emergency response services for clients of the Total Group of Companies.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with developing and reviewing site-specific rescue plans.

  • Provide high-angle, rope rescue, and technical rescue standby.

  • Participate in rescue operations, drills, equipment setup, and inspections.

  • Inspect and maintain ropes, harnesses, anchors, retrieval systems, and other rescue equipment.

  • Monitor work areas and help maintain a safe site.

  • Support confined space rescue operations when required.

  • Work closely with rescue team members, site personnel, and contractors.

  • Communicate clearly and contribute to a positive, team-focused environment.

  • Travel to project locations and work varying schedules or rotations as required.

Job requirements

Required Certifications

To be considered for this position, candidates must hold current and valid certifications in the following:

  • High-Angle Rescue or Rope Rescue certification; or

  • Confined Space Rescue certification with an interest in expanding into high-angle rescue

  • Confined Space Entry

  • Fall Protection

  • Standard First Aid with CPR/AED

  • WHMIS 2015

  • CSTS 2020

  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License & Reliable Transportation

Additional Assets

  • NFPA 1006 Technical Rescue certification

  • Advanced Rope Rescue or High-Angle Rescue training

  • H2S Alive

  • Firefighter training

  • Previous industrial, turnaround, or technical rescue experience

  • Experience working in live-plant environments

To Be Considered, Applicants Must

  • Be at least 18 years of age.

  • Be legally authorized to work in Canada and possess a valid SIN.

  • Hold a valid driver’s licence and have reliable transportation.

  • Be able to provide a clean or satisfactory Driver’s Abstract.

  • Be physically capable of performing demanding rescue work at height.

  • Be comfortable working at heights and in industrial environments.

  • Be willing to travel and work varying schedules, rotations, and project durations.
